I thought I'd make a post explaining three important things every curly girl should do to properly moisturize your hair and still promoting growth. I also feel like you can have a greta hair routine for yourself, but these three tips will help enhance your routine. Here are my three tips that will enhance your hair growth journey.
Tip #1- Pre-Pooing
Pre-poo is short for 'pre-shampoo'. It is a treatment you apply to your hair before you wash it. I usually use oils as a pre-poo treatment on my scalp but you can use your favorite conditioner or deep conditioner, whatever your hair agrees with.
It can be done overnight, or before you wash. I personally just use a blend of my favorite oils on my scalp before I wash it. I've recently been using coconut oil, jamaican black castor oil, argan oil and olive oil on my scalp.
It's important to properly take care of your scalp because that's where your hair is growing from of course. It's the foundation for all hair growth.
Tip #2- Scalp Massaging
Scalp massaging sounds just like what it is, massaging the scalp. Pre-pooing and scalp massages go hand in hand.
I like to do this whenever I'm bored and just do it for a couple minutes but mostly I like to do it right before I wash my hair.
The reason why scalp massages are important is because they can increase blood circulation to the hair follicles, increase relaxation, decrease stress, condition the scalp, and boost the strength of the hair roots. The pressure applied by massaging your scalp warms the skin and opens up blood vessels to increase blood flow and boost circulation. I like to use my DIY oil with any oil, you can use any oil you want, and just massage, my scalp with it.
Tip #3- LOC/LCO Method
LOC/LCO stands for 'liquid/leave-in, oil, cream' or 'liquid/leave-in, cream, oil. It is the way you should layer your products after you shampoo, condition & deep condition.

Leave-in conditioners/water create a nice base for your oil and styling product. Both oil and butter have the ability to create a layer on their hair that helps to prevent water from being evaporated. It helps the hair to stay moisturized for longer.
I've personally tried both LCO and LOC. When I first started wearing my hair curly, I used to always do LCO, which wasn't bad, it was just all I knew at the time. I've now been doing the LOC methods for a couple months now and I've noticed a big difference between how long my hair lasts when I do LOC vs. LCO. My hair stays moisturized longer and my style lasts longer when I do LOC. But go with what your hair needs.
I hope everyone found this post informative. These are some ways, other than my hair routine, that I've found useful for promoting hair growth. Everyone's hair is different, these are just my ways I've noticed growth. Are their certain tips and tricks you use to try and promote hair growth? Let me know in the comments below!
