NYT Article Discusses Cons of Tech World.
In our look at Writing for Electronic Media, we discussed a recent article by Farhad Manjoo in the New York Times article called 'Even the Tech Elite are Worrying About Text Addiction' from the Welcome to the Post Text Future about the web and possible end of text.
The article explains how Facebook executives who developed the highly popular platform are now concerned with the increases of 'tech addiction'.
Facebook’s first president, Sean Parker, compared Facebook and other social apps to cigarettes. Parker says they are products engineered 'to exploit addiction pathways in human psychology.' “God only knows what it’s doing to our children’s brains.” Parker says.
Tameka Jackson, 24, a St. Albans native agrees she is not a stranger to the tech world. "But I also think that people also need to take a break from being a text addict", Jackson says, "When you go on vacation, its' important because people need to take a break from the world."
