Studying Abroad in London: University of Roehampton, London Transportation and Fish & Chips!

Hi Everyone!

Long time no see, I know I'm so sorry! I've been having difficulties uploading pictures from my phone to my computer with my school's wifi, but we're back in action!

You can tell from the title that I'm in London! I'm super grateful to have the opportunity to study,  travel and learn about different cultures and a whole different part of the world. This is my first time in Europe so I'm super excited to do everything I can while I'm here.

London Transportation

Coming from NYC, I believe the transportation system in London is fairly easy to navigate. London has what they call and 'Oyster Card' similar to a Metro Card in NYC which is a card you upload money onto to get around the city via public transportation. All the transportation arrives at reasonable times, every couple minutes or so. Only difference is the Oyster Card, which is £1.50, which you can get unlimited transportation access to depending on which distance you're going. For a NYC Metro Card, you pay a flat fee of $32 to get anywhere in NYC. London has buses (which some run 24 hrs), above & underground trains.

University of Roehampton Campus

Can I just tell you guys, this campus is gorgeous!!! There's so much greenery and wildlife on this campus. Apart from being a college (or what the Brits call it, 'University' or 'Uni'), the campus also holds weddings. I literally feel like I'm in a British fairytale. There are swans and ducks just roaming around, they are very used to people on campus. Fun Fact: They also hold tapings of Dancing of The Stars UK on campus.

London's Signature Fish & Chips!

The Brit's LOVE their beer and pubs. There's always one on any block. I wanted to try their signature fish & chips here in London. I went to a place called The Red Lion and I really enjoyed my meal. I got The Red Lion's best selling 'Frontier' beer, it tasted similar to a Corona. Oh, I forgot to say the drinking age in the UK is 18! The only thing I didn't enjoy was UK water. It is totally different than the US water. It either tastes like metal or tap water to me. Also, you have to pay for water when you go out to restaurants. It's around £2.70, in the US is free, just keep that in mind.

I'm enjoying my time in London a lot! I'm having a good time learning about London and the culture here. Also, thank you to everyone who
